Scott Sewell
Scott Sewell is an Engineer and Instrumentation Group Manager in the High Altitude Observatory at the NCAR specializing in optical sensing technologiesfor studying solar physics. Specific interests include laboratory automation techniques and undergraduate education in science and engineering.
Scott received his undergraduate degree in Physics in 1990 from Colorado College and a PhD in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the University of Colorado in 1995. His thesis research in the field of laser based measurements of atmospheric trace gases was conducted at NCAR under the supervision of Dr. Alan Fried. From 1997–2007, he taught undergraduate experimental physics at MIT before returning to NCAR in 2008. His main work responsibilities are in observatory and instrumentation design and construction project management.
